Engagements, Planning, and Weddings...OH MY!

CONGRATS! You're engaged! This time in your life is one of the most exciting. The joy you feel now will be hard to top. Soak all of the tears (hopefully happy ones) and happiness in before things get crazy. And trust me, they will get crazy.

Don't get me wrong, wedding planning is super exciting! But it can become overwhelming very quickly. You may have been dreaming of your wedding day for years, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be any easier to fine tune the details or even know where to begin.

There are a few steps that need to be taken first in order to make the rest of the planning process flow a little easier:

1. Wedding Size

Without a doubt, the FIRST thing that should be decided is the type of wedding you and your fiancĂ© want. Do you want a big, traditional wedding? A small and intimate wedding? Or is elopement more your style?

Whichever direction you decide to go, it will have big impact on planning. Specifically how much effort will be needed when planning your perfect day.

2. Season & Location

Next, you will need to narrow down which season you want and where you dream of the vows being exchanged. Season can dictate what locations would work and which wouldnt. For example, if you live in the south, outdoor summer weddings probably aren't ideal. On a similar note, outdoor winter wedding in the north are likely a no go.

If you don't have your heart set on a certain time of year, consider scheduling your wedding in an "off season" as this may make it easier to get all the vendors you want!

3. Importance

Decide which vendor holds the most importance to you and book them first! If you are set on a certain location or photographer, for example, booking them first will make sure that you don't have to worry about availabilities not lining up.

Also, flexibility is a big must with wedding planning! Be prepared for a vendor or two to not have availability that lines up with everything else

4. Plan Away!

Now comes the part where things can get a little hectic. If it is within your budget, consider hiring a wedding planner. This can take a huge weight off of your shoulders as they will guide you through the whole process. If it isn't within your budget, don't worry! Many brides (myself included) have done just fine in planning on their own.

Regardless, getting a wedding planner is an absolute must! This will make sure that all your ducks are in a row and you are on track to the most perfect day!
